Beware of Ripoffs!
A very common ripoff in the carpet cleaning field is the use of
"3-MScotchgard ™". 3-M Scotchgard™ is a
product of the 3-M Company and typically commercially purchased
in a concentrated form from 3-M and mixed with water before application
on wet carpet/furniture. Application of
3-MScotchgard ™after cleaning is applied to protect from
the carpet from stains and excessive soiling.
Sometimes a cleaner will advertise a product with
a name similar to "3-MScotchgard ™™ but the spelling
of the name will be slightly different; such as "Scotchguard".
This is usually an inferior product with a lesser cost to the
cleaner and ultimately to the expense of the client. Another common
rippoff is when a cleaner will improperly mix the product which
requires a specific ratio of water to cleaner to be effective
for the intended purpose for which is is being applied.
One test to determine proper application is to wait
for the rug/fabric to dry, then apply a small amount of water
to the treated rug/fabric. If the water beads up on the tips of
the fibers, the "3-MScotchgard ™" is doing its
job. If it soaks in rapidly, the material was probably improperly
treated by the cleaner. Please call Stoll today if you have any
